I don't know if it's because my kids are getting older, or if I am getting lazier or if it's just getting old. But lately, I have started to feel like the cook and the maid.
I am not really doing anymore than I used to.
No one else is doing any less than usual.
I am doing the same things I have been doing for the past (almost) 7 years, but it's annoying me these days.
I make myself feel better by saying that maybe it's just natural since my kids are at an age they could start helping more.
I started making them fold their own clothes and put them away. It really does lighten my load having them do something so simple. If Calvin isn't home, I do his myself, and Tyler still get his folded and put away, but it's still a big help, maybe.
Hadlee is a trooper.
It really is pretty easy to get her to do things I ask.
Calvin is another story...

Look at my little helper.
At this point, Calvin was laying on the floor sucking his finger.
He kept whining/pleading, "Play the Wii!"
To which I replied (3 billion times), "After you fold your clothes and put them away."
He finally just shoved his clothes in his drawer, unfolded. And at that point, I gave up caring.
Pick your battles and lower your expectations. (repeated 3 billion times in my head.)
