Tent'n It

Calvin has a hard time sitting through primary (I know that's a shocker, right) but he has been doing a little better lately. Better meaning he wants to be in there by himself, so he yells and waves bye to me numerous times until I finally leave. I don't really ever leave though, I always wait out in the hallway because I know he will run past all the primary leaders and be gone in less than a second. He didn't disappoint yesterday. The best part was during sharing time, they used a baby's sunhat that was red with white polka dots and a bow on it during their lesson and at some point Calvin ended up wearing it. So when he came darting out into the hallway, we was wearing a baby girl's hat. He ran straight out the door and right into the chapel. The next sacrament meeting was a few minutes away so luckily there were quite a few witnesses. He ran up to the front and right to the pulpit where he was going to just make sure the microphone was working for them. I gave people my apologetic smile as I grabbed him and escorted him out. I am going to estimate 15 more people toward my goal.

Today he was outside playing and decided that a couple that walked by was nice enough looking and he started following them. He was across the street when our neighbor, Max, came to tell me where he was. When I got to him he was walking up the stairs, ready to go into their upstairs apartment with them. Luckily they weren't serial killing, psychopathic pedophiles, (I don't think anyway) but still probably not a good practice for him to be getting into.

These moments are few and far between, had to get a photo. It was before his haircut though. I wish I had a photo of the baby hat wearing rampage, but I don't take my camera to church.

Hadlee is loving living here. Mainly thanks to our great neighbors. We really aren't lucky people, Tyler and I, so you would think we would be in the slums of student housing with the worst, cockroach breeding neighbors ever. I am starting to wonder what the catch is. We are in one of the newest buildings and our neighbors couldn't be better. They have a little girl named Maili, (sounds like Mylie) who is also 5 and Hadlee just loves her. The other day we were sitting in front of a mirror and we had this conversation:

Me: (looking at Hadlee stare at herself in the mirror) "Have you ever seen a prettier girl, Hadlee?"
Her: "Yes, Maili."

I really think it has made all the difference for her to have friends here already. She was so sad to leave her friends back home and I think it made the transition easier. She can barely contain herself during the day waiting for time to play.

We hopefully have a cure on the way to Calvin's sleeping issues. We debated about buying a crib, thinking maybe if the type of bed was the same as the one at home maybe he would sleep like he used to. We were trying to decide what to do and Tyler was looking online and found this:
from this website http://myreadysetbloom.com/
It's a bed tent that his mattress slides into and we can lock so he can't get out all hours of the night. *** (I am going to start using an * when I know you are judging me. Keep in mind, anyone is welcome to come get Calvin for a week and then pass judgment freely.)
It was supposed to get here Friday and when I found out it might not be here until Monday,.......
I thought I might die. Now it's supposed to be here tomorrow (Tuesday). I might make it until tomorrow, we'll see.

We ordered Hadlee a less expensive one so she didn't feel left out, of course, her unnecessary tent arrived much more quickly. It got here Thursday. Tyler couldn't keep if from her any longer and gave it to her last night. She loves it and so does Calvin so that's a positive sign. Her tent is easy to get out of though and his won't be, but I am hanging all my hopes on it.
Hadlee in her tent.

Love the asterisk!! :) I'm crossing my fingers for you that the tent idea works! Sleep is PRECIOUS!

I'm definitely not judging you. You know, I have twin boys and I'm starting to imagine that Calvin is just twin boys locked inside one body. Less expensive to feed and clothe, but just as much work. Also, I have the lock on my twins room flipped to the outside, and yes, I do occasionally lock them in their room until I regain my sanity. Now judge me if you must.

And Hadlee IS the most beautiful girl their is (besides my Lexi, of course!) Zac doesn't kiss girls who aren't pretty and since she was his first, I know she is the prettiest of all!

You're such an overachiever-in reaching your goal and all. Hang in there and be thankful there's sunshine to help clear your mind.

I'm glad Hadlee has a friend. I hope you've made a friend, too.

I just want you to know that I would never judge you! You are a great mom and I am enjoying your stories. I hope the bed works out and everyone gets their sleep.

Tell me who judges you and I'll beat them up! It's obviously a necessity! If my sleep gets interrupted even once I want to die of sleep deprivation the next day. I'm happy for Hadlee :D That must make living in paradise even better!
I can't wait to hear how your blurb book turns out.

A happy family is a sleeping family if you ask me. The whole sleep issue is one of the things I am most nervous about with having a new baby coming. I think the tent seems like a great idea! Keep us updated!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and stories. The beach looks heavenly.

I really love the tent idea....maybe we need to invest so Cambrie doesn't try sneaking in our bed at night! I would hope people wouldn't judge you...you are a great mom! :) I am glad to hear Hadlee is enjoying Hawaii so much!

I got Connor a bed tent for Christmas and everynight he either wanted it on or off. I didn't have enough space in his room when it was off so I've already disassembled the thing... I hope Calvin's works better. And... I have a lock on the outside of his door as well. :)

No judging here sister. I locked Whitters in her room all the time when she was Calvin's age...she was a maniac to say the least...Can't wait for your tent to arrive and your sleep to reach new heights. Now I am going to go read the rest of your blog and catch up on what is happening!!!
