Paying for My Sins

I have been finding some of my infractions of my younger years coming back to bite me. It even makes me more upset when I think about how long ago some of these things happened. The latest is my stupid ear. When I was probably 14 or something, I wanted to get a second hole pierced in my ear. My mom and dad said no, so I remember standing in my grandma's bathroom, straining to shove a safety pin through my ear. You would think that would be just begging for an infection, think of all the sanitary concerns there.
Nope, good as gold.
Never had any trouble.
I was probably 16 or 17 when I wanted a third hole pierced and one at the top of my ear in the cartilage.
Because I was that cool, that's why.
My parents said no again, so one of my friends at CEU cosmetology hooked me up and waaalllah, three holes in each ear and one at the top and I was officially a rebel. (These are, of course, not my only sins, but the only ones I am going to mention today.)
I never had any trouble with my ears. Even the cartilage piercing that some random girl did with a gun instead of a hollowed out needle (as it should be done).
Never, that is, until now.
I decided to hang up the rebellion belt, or try to, over SEVEN years ago. I took out all the ear rings except the first hole (along with changing quite a few other things in my life) because I knew I needed to. So here we are 7 years later and what happens? My second and third hole are INFECTED! I haven't worn ear rings for over 7 years and now they are infected.
The worst part is, it WON'T go away.
It's been over a month now.
I think I am going to have to get my whole ear lobe cut off as soon as I cave and go to the doctor because my stupid ear ring holes are infected.
Who goes to the doctor for that?
A little over a week ago, I had Tyler put a needle through the third one and wore a ear ring for a couple days. I felt stupid though. It's not really who I am anymore, so as soon as it started to get better I took it out.
And then it got worse.
Now it's both the 2nd and 3rd holes.
I read something online last night that said you shouldn't take the ear rings out because then the infection can't drain. It made sense, it's why I wore the ear ring a few days ago in the first place. So last night I shoved ear rings into my second and third holes, along with a gallon a alcohol and neosporin. Here we go again and if this doesn't work, I will end up going to the doctor for the world's stupidest reason.
To sum up.
Here I am, at BYU-H walking around with my own version of a scarlet letter. I just got some looks in the laundry room. I almost told the random laundry room stranger the whole story just to clear the air but I didn't. Funny I used to enjoy those looks because I was 'different' and now I want to hide in my house.
It's no wonder people stare.
Especially if I am walking around with that look on my face.
Oh and P.S. My ear hurts!! I couldn't go to sleep last night because that's the side I sleep on. I hope the universe is happy!

Ouch! That looks sore. I once thought I was a rebel too and pierced my belly button. (in my defence, I did have awesome abs!) I only wore it for a month or so and yet I have an ugly scar now because having twins stretched my piercing mark to gigantic proportions. I wonder how we go about making sure our daughters are never that dumb?

I still remember what my dad said to me when he saw the 2 piercings at the top of my ear. He said, "Do you think you are cool now, or something?" And I thought, uh..yeah! I say go to the doctor, and then write another funny post about that experience.

That has to be the craziest story I have heard all day!!! Who would think after seven years.....oh the years of rebellion....I hope that all my holes don't become infected from my rebellion years....if they do I guess I will come to you for advice!! :) Hope it clears up soon....

HaHa. That's hilarious. The sin part, not the hurt part. And I actually don't call piercing ears a sin. I have a permanent scar where mine used to be!

I especially love the face.
