Turtle Beach

Hadlee loves to snorkel. She has fins and a little mask and snorkel and she has gotten pretty good at going out there and swimming around. I go out with her and stay close in case she needs me but she pretty much does it on her own. She isn't scared of the fish even though I catch my heart racing if a fish swims too close. She likes to follow them around. Today we saw a whole school of fish that she broke up, a squid looking thingy that she chased off and a really long skinny fish that she tried to follow around. She started doing some crawl stoke with her snorkel. I thought it was funny because I have never really taught her (I can hear the gasps). I guess maybe I need to start. Anyway we feel lucky to live here and have some of these experiences. Here are a couple pictures of the cute little snorkeler. Ü I need to get one of her all geared up.
A little way from our snorkeling beach is a beach called Turtle Beach. We have never stopped at it before today, but I have always wanted to. For a long time we would drive by and I wondered why there were so many people just standing on the beach staring at the water. Then we did some research and Tyler decided that could be Turtle Beach. A few times we have been driving by and I would be sure I saw a turtle from the car. Today I told Tyler I wanted to finally go check it out when we were done snorkeling. It was one of the coolest things ever. There were so many turtles there, I really couldn't believe it. I got in the water to my ankles to get some pictures and a couple of them ended up right by me eating moss of some rocks. This guy came up and told us we had to stay 4-5 feet away from them. He really should have told the turtle that, he was the one who came up to me. Anyway, we got some good pictures and most of them I am not even using my zoom. I told Hadlee that the only thing cooler would have been seeing a giant sea frog. She said that she didn't know those existed. I told her they don't. I am not sure anything could have been cooler. I am mad that we didn't go when my dad was here. I guess he will just have to come back.

I could have stayed all day, starring and taking pictures. I think I took as many pictures of these turtles as I did our kids on the first day of their lives. Tyler had to escort me off the beach so we could be home in time to pick Calvin up from school.

Here is a quick video of Hadlee talking about the turtles.

So cool! I wonder if they lay their eggs on that beach. I've always wanted to watch baby turtles hatch and make their way back to the ocean. You are a lucky girl!

So Cool! Way better than the turtles at Hogle Zoo! They just sit there and look like rocks!
